Automatic Sprinkler
It is the single most effective method for fighting the spread of fires in their early stages before they can cause severe injury to people and damage to property. When one fire sprinkler head goes off to fight a fire the entire sprinkler system does not activate. Sprinkler systems are not only mandatory by most Federal and State codes. But installation of fire sprinklers can provide deep discounts on insurance premiums. Therefore it is necessary to install and maintain a high-quality sprinkler system for the financial interest of building owners.
Wet & Dry Standpipe Systems
These provide a pre-piped water system for building occupants or the fire department. A dry riser is a supply system intended to distribute water to multiple levels or compartments of a building, as a component of its firefighting systems. They are advantageous to the fire service in two aspects. Primarily they provide a fixed distribution system within the building that requires no fire service resources or equipment. Secondly it is designed as part of, and to maintain, the compartmentation of the building.
Clean Agent Suppression & Special Hazards Protection Systems
Enclosures where a sprinkler system could cause damage to sensitive contents, such as rooms containing computer servers, paper files or historical artifacts, use a clean agent suppression system. Upon fire detection, the compressed clean AGENT, which can be a halocarbon or an inert gas, is released into the enclosure causing a peak pressure of around 5 to 25 pounds per square foot (240 – 1200 Pa) to occur for a fraction of a second. The magnitude is dependent on the enclosure leakage area.
Once the enclosure is totally flooded, the agent will begin to leak out at a rate that primarily depends on the leakage area in the lower part of the enclosure. The distribution of the remaining agent will either be constant throughout the enclosure (due to continual mixing) or will establish an interface with air above and agent below that descends over time as agent leaks from the enclosure, as shown in Figure.
Water Mist Fire Protection System
It uses very fine water sprays (i.e. water mist). The small water droplets allow the water mist to control, suppress or extinguish fires by:
- Cooling both the flame and surrounding gasses by evaporation.
- Displacing oxygen by evaporation
- Attenuating radiant heat by the small droplets themselves
Foam Water System
It provides fire-fighting protection for diverse applications. Example- aircraft hangars; basements; cable tunnels; flammable packaging areas; flammable liquid drum storage areas; hazardous waste facilities; LNG tank farms and loading facilities; storage buildings and warehouses. The foam systems produce light, voluminous foam blanket & can quickly obtain great heights, reaching elevated flammable materials (such as on storage racks).
Fire Hydrants and Monitor
Its installation consist of a system of pipework connected directly to the water supply main to provide water to each and every hydrant outlet. It provides water for the firemen to fight a fire. The water is discharged into the fire engine form which it is then pumped and sprayed over the fire. Where the water supply is not reliable or inadequate, hydrant pumps should be provided to pressurize the fire mains.
